73.16m: UCSD-Highland Valley Loop

by Arlyn on February 17, 2008

Myself, Andy, Dave, Firger and the new guy, Chris we standing there in our cleats trying to decide where to go. I think we all started with the idea that we’d do a fairly flat 50 miles and be sure to end at Pizza Port. Then someone mentioned doing the Highland Valley Loop and several people got excited cause it’s such a great descent and can easily end at the Port. The rest the group were ambivalent and we were off.

Seventy-three miles and 2,626 feet later, I was ready for a beer and a nap.

Great job guys! I really wish I was along for the ride.

I can’t wait to ride this one again once I am in biking shape.

Next time we do this ride we should park in the train station’s parking lot. No one wants to ride after eating 4 slices of pizza and drinking several delicious beers.

Ditto to the start/finish. By the time I got back with my car, the pizza was gone.
