Alright, many of you know that I’m shaving my legs. Some (all?) of you wonder why so I thought I’d explain myself. See, I’m not doing it because it makes me go faster (although I am going faster) or because it makes it easier to treat road rash after crashes, or because I get massages all the time (which WOULD be nice…). I’m not even doing it because it makes my legs look better, which I think it does.

I’m shaving my legs because I’m BEING a competitive cyclist and that’s what a competitive cyclist would do. Confused? Let me explain how I see it.
I might ride my bike and train so that I can HAVE a certain level of fitness in order to register for and DO bike races which would then allow me to BE a competitive cyclist. Someday… Maybe… If I’m ever good enough. And in the meantime, I’m just some poser-wannabe-regular guy who hopes and wishes things may change.
I think that’s totally backwards and I prefer to look at the world the other way. Consider the following:
I AM a competitive cyclist. Now, what would a competitive cyclist do today? I guess he would eat right, train hard and register for races. Ok, done. If he ate right, trained hard and registered for races, what would naturally follow? Great fitness.
Try it somewhere in your life. BE what you want, then DO what’s natural for that being and finally HAVE what comes to someone who is being that. It works, I promise.

No explanation necessary. I completely understand.
