Mean people suck!

by Arlyn on March 10, 2008

The rednecks were out in force for our Highland Valley ride the other day. I got honked at, called a “faggot” and yelled at several times. Some idiot threw a water bottle at Wakefield, just behind me.

You know, it really scares the crap out of me when someone honks as they go by or yells something at me. I really get how vulnerable I am on a bike how someone could change the course of my life in one careless moment.

Right behind the fear is anger – and lots of it. What kind of moron messes with five strong guys and then pulls into his driveway 200 yards ahead? (Yeah, that happened…) There was some sentiment that we should calmly pull over and beat the man senseless and destroy his shiny red truck, but we rode on, grumbling under our breaths about “doing the right thing”.

And then finally, I’m sad. How much does that guy’s life suck that he’s calling me a “faggot” and throwing water bottles at us at 10:00am on a beautiful Saturday morning? How happy and satisfied with life can that guy be? It’s too bad people are that angry.

I still wouldn’t mind taking a tire iron to his truck though.

I couldn’t agree more.

As I recall, the guy was carrying a 12-pack into the house, maybe it was an 18-pack. I don’t mean to stereotype people, but what else would you expect from a guy like that.
